CORNELIUS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Congressman Tim Moore answered several questions Thursday afternoon about his opinion on President Donald Trump’s changes since taking office for a second time.
Moore was elected in November to represent North Carolina’s newly drawn 14th Congressional District, which includes parts of Mecklenburg County, along with Gaston and several counties west.
Queen City News talked with the former N.C. House speaker about several different recent headlines, including disaster relief for western North Carolina, the Ukraine and Russian war and a posts on social media from the White House that’s gaining attention.
Inside Cornelius Town Hall, Moore celebrated the opening of his new office Thursday afternoon, while outside about a hundred protestors held signs and chanted. One of the signs read, “don’t sell out Ukraine.” Another read, “your oath is to the Constitution not Trump/Musk.”
After his presentation, QCN crews chatted with him to get his take on several topics. First, we discussed if he has confidence western North Carolina will continue to receive federal disaster relief, amid potential cuts at the office which funds recovery.

“I have regular communication with my colleagues in the House on the appropriations side, also with the President on this and there is an absolute commitment to make sure resources are delivered,” said Moore. “Not only funds, not only the money, but also regulatory relief.”
We also got his opinion on how he believes the White House should approach a deal with Ukraine and Russia, as tensions are escalating between Trump and the Ukrainian president.
“I believe that Putin needs to be checked in terms of his aggression,” said Moore. “I don’t pretend to know the innerworkings of what the President is looking to do. I do sense that the President wants to see peace come about and may be the one to be able to broker that… I think if you’re going to be able to negotiate any kind of peace, you’ve got to be able to talk to both sides and both sides have to be able to trust you.”
Another hot topic is the White House social media post depicting a magazine cover with Trump wearing a crown. The caption reads, “Congestion pricing is dead. Manhattan, and all of New York, is saved. Long live the king!”
“I haven’t even seen that quote,” said Moore. “I mean clearly we don’t have royalty in America, but I do applaud the president and the job he is doing and I applaud him.”
The congressman is setting up several satellite offices across the Charlotte region in hopes of being able to help more constituents. His Gastonia office is located at 128 W. Main Ave. The Cornelius office is in Room 110 of Cornelius Town Hall. More will open in the coming weeks.
