GASTONIA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Three people were shot in Gastonia including a pregnant teenager whose baby was killed in the shooting at the Econo Lodge off U.S. Highway 321 Thursday night.
Gastonia Police have not announced any arrests from the incident but say there is no threat to the community.
The sound of sirens is so common that neighbor James Moore says he’s started ignoring it.
“We hear it all at night, you’ve been living here so long, you don’t pay no attention to it,” said Moore.
On Thursday night, the call to the Econo Lodge off I-85 Exit 17 was different. Bullet holes dotted the door of one room.
One of three people shot was a pregnant teenager whose unborn child was killed.
“I wish it hadn’t happened but there’s nothing we can really do about it, except if they’d just clean the place up,” said Moore.

While Moore says problems at the motel have gotten worse, neighbor Moises Rivera feels far enough away from it.
“It does worry me, but it’s not a big deal like to move or anything,” said Rivera.
But he says the shooting Thursday night is a little too close.
“It’s very sad, it’s very sad to hear that happening right in our backyard,” said Rivera.
Police did not have an update on the condition of the pregnant teenager but say the other two victims did not have life-threatening injuries.
