Nicole Grogan,Oliver Stratton Obituary, Death; – A tragic incident occurred on New Year’s Day in western Vermont, resulting in the deaths of a 22-year-old mother and her 12-day-old son, as reported by authorities on Friday.
The fire erupted at a residence on Chunks Brook Road in Sandgate around 11:30 a.m., according to the Vermont State Police. Firefighting units from various towns in Vermont and New York responded promptly and managed to control the fire.
At the scene, two individuals were discovered deceased, while two others were transported to hospitals in New York for medical care. The victims have been identified as Nicole Grogan, aged 22, and her infant son, Oliver Stratton, who was just 12 days old. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is tasked with determining the cause and manner of their deaths.
The Vermont Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit is actively investigating the fire’s origin and cause, with assistance from state police detectives and troopers.
