CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A new pilot parking program is set to launch in two Charlotte neighborhoods in early 2025. It will add more metered parking and provide permits for residents and businesses.
The hope is to have more parking spaces available for customers and business owners in the Dilworth neighborhood.
In Dilworth, the city will change Cleveland Avenue to a two-hour metered limit Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 10 pm.
The map of the newly proposed permit zones in Dilworth includes permit zones for residential and community parking.

The community permit zone is just one block from South Boulevard, an area many people park at for an unlimited time while in South End.
There will be an opportunity for each address in the zones to purchase up to six permits a year, with the first costing $35.
Business owners say with the city growing so much, much of the street parking is being occupied by construction workers and other residents visiting South End.
“I think that’s a positive change,” said Kirsten Whitman, sales manager at Schumacher Showroom and Boutique. “I think for us being a retail business, and part of our business relies on walk-in foot traffic. I think that’s exciting. Turnover will be quicker for parking and hopefully generate some more foot traffic for us.”
The program is also launching in the Wilmore neighborhood. The next step will be for the city to put up signs saying there is a two-hour parking limit.
