Nellie Marie Hart Obituary: Nellie Marie Hart, 68, of Monroe, was confirmed as the victim by the Georgia State Patrol. Her family members have been informed.
The Georgia State Patrol reports that one person died in the single-car collision that closed Highway 138 on Thursday night. After being taken to Piedmont Walton, the driver passed away from her wounds.
At around 6:56 p.m., the Walton County Sheriff’s Office asked GSP to look into the collision on Georgia 138 close to Nunnally Farm Road, according to GSP Post 46 Commander SFC Richard Thacker.
Following his arrival at the scene, TFC James’ inquiry turned up the following information: Driving east on Georgia 138, a white Jeep Compass went off the road and struck a tree on the north shoulder. After being taken to Piedmont Walton Hospital, the driver passed away from her wounds, according to Thacker. “The driver was a 68-year-old female from Monroe, Georgia.”
