Nathaniel Boyd,Whitney Allmond Obituary, Death; – After enduring several hours of winter weather, a man from Kansas set out to collect his girlfriend from work, but tragically, neither would return home. The heartbreaking incident concluded nearly 18 hours later in a manner that no family ever wishes to experience.
Nathaniel Boyd, aged 24, and Whitney Allmond, aged 26, had been in a relationship for approximately one year. During this time, Boyd had taken on a fatherly role for Allmond’s two young children, but their shared future has now been irrevocably altered.
According to investigators, Boyd picked up Allmond from her workplace and was en route to their home around 12:30 a.m. last Sunday. Due to adverse weather conditions, their vehicle veered off the road and rolled down an embankment while traveling southbound on Interstate 235, as reported by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Both individuals were ejected from the vehicle, and investigators noted that neither was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
It was not until nearly 18 hours later, at 6:20 p.m., that a passerby contacted 911 to report the crash. Troopers arrived on the scene but found that it was too late; both had succumbed to their injuries. Family members described Allmond as a dedicated worker who held two jobs to support her 2-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son. She would have celebrated her 27th birthday on Wednesday.
Boyd’s mother referred to him as one of the most remarkable individuals she had ever known, emphasizing his deep care for those he loved, including Allmond’s children. His family is heartbroken over his sudden passing, a situation compounded by the absence of life insurance.
In response to this tragedy, both families have established GoFundMe campaigns to help cover funeral costs. The fundraising page for Boyd can be accessed here, while the page for Allmond is available here.
