A tragic shooting early Sunday morning in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, claimed the life of a young girl identified as Naryah Wright of Steelton. Naryah, a freshman at Steelton High School and a cheerleader, succumbed to injuries sustained during the incident.
Around 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to the area of South 19th and Derry streets following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found a large crowd in the vicinity and began searching for victims but were initially unable to locate anyone.
Shortly thereafter, Naryah arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed into surgery, she tragically passed away due to the severity of her injuries, according to police reports. Naryah was well-known as a cheerleader at Steelton High School and had plans to join the track team.
She is survived by her mother and younger siblings, who mourn her loss. In her memory, a moment of silence was observed at the school’s football field at 5 p.m. on Sunday, as shared by her mother on Facebook.
