On Monday morning, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the victim as Nam Hoa Chiem, 71, from Vineyard. Emergency crews from Metro Fire arrived at the scene and pronounced Chiem deceased. This tragic incident was one of at least three pedestrian-related collisions that took place on Sunday in the capital region.
In Rancho Cordova, a hit-and-run driver collided with a pedestrian at the intersection of Rob Beaudry Drive and Sierra Glen Way, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies who responded to the scene shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Sunday are actively searching for the driver involved.
Approximately 15 minutes later, at around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, police in Roseville attended to a hit-and-run incident that resulted in injuries to a pedestrian on Harding Boulevard near Douglas Boulevard. Authorities reported that the injured man was conscious when medical personnel arrived and was subsequently transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The Coroner’s Office noted that 51 pedestrians lost their lives on Sacramento County roads in 2024.
