Nahomi Cittadini Obituary, Death; – A 29-year-old man with a criminal record is now facing charges related to the death of a woman on an Interstate 95 ramp in early December. A recently acquired arrest warrant indicates that state transportation employees observed the murder in real-time through traffic surveillance cameras.
Investigators allege that Lorent Pion fatally assaulted 22-year-old on the morning of December 7 by violently beating her and pulling her into the path of oncoming vehicles during a confrontation near the southbound entrance ramp from Ives Dairy Road in northeast Miami-Dade.
Pion, a resident of northwest Miami-Dade, was apprehended shortly thereafter by Miramar police on unrelated charges, including failure to stop at the scene of an accident and aggravated fleeing. At that time, he was regarded as a “person of interest” in Cittadini’s death, but he is now facing a charge of second-degree murder.
The arrest warrant, drafted on December 18 by Detective Malia Carson of the Miami-Dade Police Department, reveals that Florida Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the scene after two employees from the Florida Department of Transportation’s Traffic Management Center reported witnessing a confrontation between a man and a woman along the roadside.
The Florida Highway Patrol had been notified by the FDOT after receiving a report of a black SUV in a ditch, as noted by the detective. The FDOT employees described their observations from the traffic cameras shortly after 6 a.m.
The woman, later identified as Cittadini, was seen on the ground attempting to defend herself against her assailant, who was standing over her and throwing punches, according to one of the workers.
Investigators stated that the workers observed Pion “forcefully dragging” Cittadini away from the area where the black SUV was parked and towards the lanes of I-95, while multiple vehicles swerved to avoid them.
According to the warrant, Pion subsequently “walked away,” leaving Cittadini on the shoulder of the road. However, as she attempted to crawl back to the emergency shoulder, the workers witnessed Pion dragging her back into the far-right travel lane, placing her in the path of oncoming traffic. Another worker provided additional information to investigators.
