MOUNTAIN COUNTIES (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Three counties have canceled school Tuesday due to slick conditions.
Avery County Schools is on an optional teacher workday after the county starts the day under an ice storm warning. Teachers who choose to work can do so remotely.
Both Ashe County and Watauga County are under a winter storm warning through Wednesday afternoon. Ashe County Schools will be closed to both students and staff on Tuesday.
Watauga County Schools is also closed to students, teachers and staff. A makeup day will be announced for the end of the year. If 11 and 12-month employees choose to work on Tuesday, they can report on a 2-hour delay.
