ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A motorcyclist was killed and another person was seriously hurt after a crash in Taylorsville, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Around 5:40 p.m. on Friday, March 28, troopers responded to the fatal crash on NC 16 at Millersville Road. Officials said a 2007 Harley Davidson was going south on NC 16 and tried to turn left onto Millersville Road when it crashed into a northbound 2007 Audi A4.
The motorcyclist, 35-year-old Samuel Jarrett Killian, was thrown from the motorcycle and killed at the scene. Highway Patrol says a passenger was also thrown from the bike, and they were taken by helicopter to a local hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Audi, an 18-year-old man, was not injured and will not be charged.
Investigators don’t believe speed or impairment were factors in the collision. The roadway was closed for about two hours during the on-scene investigation.
