A New Smyrna Beach, Florida woman has died after a domestic-related incident on Thursday. Monica Robarge passed away from a gunshot injury to the upper torso following an argument with her longtime boyfriend, Charlie Sawyer.
The deadly shooting incident happened around 5 P.M., at the victim’s home located off Liza Clinton Road, Edgewater. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic altercation at home. According to the department, the female was located suffering from an apparent gunshot injury. She died at the scene of the incident. Sawyer was treated for graze injuries and was taken in for questioning.
Volusia Sheriff’s Office released the following details following the incident. “Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting this evening at a home off Liza Clinton Road, Edgewater. The initial information reported around 5:10 p.m. is that the adult female victim was fatally shot during a domestic disturbance. The adult male shooter is receiving treatment on the scene for a minor injury and will be interviewed by detectives. Please stand by for updates following a thorough investigation.”
Monica Robarge was a graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School and a lover of nature, animals, and children. “Please pray for my close friend’s family she died this evening a victim of domestic abuse. My friend was saved and she is in heaven! She will be missed by many !! Her name was Monica Robarge she lived in Oak Hill Florida,” a grieving friend wrote.
