Monica Marie Soliz Obituary – The 21-year-old pedestrian from Immokalee who tragically lost her life on Saturday morning has been identified as Monica Marie Soliz, a vet assistant. Her family has set up a GoFundMe page to assist with the unforeseen funeral expenses. On the fundraising platform, her mother described her as a bright, ambitious young woman who was still pursuing her education with aspirations of becoming a Veterinarian. She was already a Certified Vet Assistant who adored animals and had two cats whom she cared for as if they were her own babies.
As per Soliz’s Facebook profile, she had completed the veterinary assisting certificate program at Lorenzo Walker Technical College and was currently enrolled at Hillsborough Community College. The fatal incident occurred when Soliz was hit by two vehicles on State Road 82, just south of Corkscrew Road, at 4:42 a.m. on July 6.
Law enforcement reports indicate that Soliz was walking in the westbound lane of State Road 82 when the first vehicle collided with her. Subsequently, the second vehicle, following closely behind the first, also struck her.
The first vehicle was driven by a 63-year-old woman from Immokalee, while the second vehicle was operated by a 27-year-old man from the same area. Fortunately, neither driver sustained any injuries.
Tragically, Soliz was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
