Police responded to reports of an armed suspect at a Kroger on State Boulevard, advising the public to stay clear of the area.
The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) stated that witnesses called around 6:30 p.m. about an armed suspect at the Georgetown Kroger, located at 6310 East State Boulevard.
FWPD actively cleared the scene after witnesses reported an armed suspect with a gun inside the Kroger.
Police confirmed that one suspect, identified as Richard Klaff, is in custody following the evacuation.
A witness reported seeing the suspect being arrested by police behind the Papa John’s Pizza.
Witnesses at the scene said people were running across the parking lot to a nearby bank, and police cleared the adjacent Dollar General.
