Missing Sarah Mayhew 38, Found Dead in a River In South London: At Mitcham’s Rawnsley Avenue, the remains were found on Tuesday afternoon by contractors cleaning the River Wandle. The body of Ms. Mayhew, a Croydon resident, has already been identified from remains found on April 2 in Rowdown Fields, New Addington. April saw the charging of a man and a woman for murder. The family of Ms. Mayhew has been notified and is receiving help from specialized police after an investigation into the most recent discovery, according to the Metropolitan Police.
It was in the evening of March 8 that Ms. Mayhew was last seen in Sutton, in southwest London. The Old Bailey heard murder charges against 48-year-old Gemma Watts and 44-year-old Steven Sansom in April.
A proper and legal burial is another complaint against them. The prosecution claims that on the evening of March 8, Ms. Watts, of New Addington, Croydon, and Mr. Sansom, of Sutton, south London, killed Ms. Mayhew at a domestic residence.
The court heard this claim. It was alleged in court that Ms. Mayhew’s body was later dismembered and disposed of. Searches for Ms. Mayhew’s remains were ongoing, according to information that the Old Bailey was informed of at the time. Remanded into custody were both defendants. “My thoughts remain with Sarah’s family,” stated Det Insp. Martin Thorpe on Wednesday. As our investigation develops, we will keep on offering our assistance.
