Mishrka Bucha Obituary-Death News; Psychology Student At Brock University, Passes Away
The Brock University community is mourning the untimely loss of Mishrka Bucha, a fourth-year Psychology student with a minor in French Studies, whose remarkable contributions to campus life have left a lasting legacy. An international student from Mauritius, Bucha was deeply involved in numerous aspects of student life and known for her positive impact on those around her.
Bucha played a significant role in fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for students, particularly within the international community. As a former International Student Ambassador, she worked closely with prospective and current international students, offering invaluable support as they transitioned to life in Canada.
Her personal experience as an international student allowed her to connect on a meaningful level, guiding others through academic and cultural adjustments while sharing her own Brock journey.
Beyond her ambassadorial duties, Bucha also served as a Don at Brock’s Quarry View Residence, where she provided guidance and support to her peers, contributing to a sense of community and belonging among students.
Her leadership extended to her involvement in athletics, where she was a dedicated member of the Brock women’s fencing team, representing the University in competitions while balancing her academic commitments.
In addition to her athletic and residential roles, Bucha was also an engaged student-staff member, having worked at Brock Library and Career Services. Her multifaceted involvement across these areas highlighted her strong work ethic and passion for helping others succeed. She was well-known among her peers and faculty for her kindness, leadership, and tireless commitment to enhancing the student experience.
The news of Bucha’s passing has left a deep void in the Brock community. Dean Ingrid Makus of the Faculty of Social Sciences expressed the profound sadness felt by the University: “Without a doubt, Mishrka touched many, many lives across our University community.
We are deeply saddened for her friends and loved ones, her fellow students, and for the staff and faculty members who knew her well. Our thoughts are with Mishrka’s family at this difficult time.”
