Minnetonka Murder Suicide:- Authorities have identified a couple in their 70s who died in a tragic murder-suicide in Minnetonka last week. The victims were identified as Kenneth Robert Spitzmueller and Patricia Ann Spitzmueller.
According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office, Patricia Ann Spitzmueller, 71, from Savage, was found fatally shot in the head in an apartment located at 12201 Minnetonka Boulevard on Thursday, July 18.
Her death has been ruled a homicide. Also found at the scene was Kenneth Robert Spitzmueller, 76, of Minnetonka, who succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Police were alerted by a neighbor around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday after finding the couple unresponsive.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene upon police arrival. According to an obituary published by The Star Tribune, the Spitzmuellers had been married for over 50 years and are survived by five children and four grandchildren. Police have not yet disclosed any further details regarding the incident.
Obituary will be released by their family at a later date.
