Death Notice – It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Mildred Irene MacPhee on February 1, 2024, at the age of 96. Born on April 8, 1927, in Three Brooks, Pictou County, Mildred was a cherished daughter of the late James William and Myrtle Alberta (Ross) Fraser.
A dedicated and long-time resident of Hardwoodlands, Mildred played a vital role in the community. She was an active member of Hardwoodlands Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and a life member of the Atlantic Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church. Additionally, she contributed to the Hardwoodlands Women’s Institute. Known for her generosity, Mildred always had an open door for those in need.
Mildred is survived by her sons, Merlyn (Laura) of Dundas, ON, and Norman (Sheila) of Enfield, NS, and daughter Lynn (Stephen) Davis of Charlotte, NC. She is also remembered fondly by her grandchildren Grant (Amanda) MacPhee, Kaitlyn (Glenn) MacLean, Jessica Davis, and Matthew Davis, as well as great-grandchild Madilynn MacPhee.
Preceded in death by her husband Robert A., daughter Sherry, and several siblings, Mildred’s impact on her community will be remembered for generations. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 6-8 pm at Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, with a funeral service on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 11 am. Rev. Beth Mattinson will officiate, and burial will take place in Hardwoodlands Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mildred’s memory to the Hardwoodlands Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the compassionate doctors and nurses at Colchester East Hants Health Centre. May Mildred rest in eternal peace.
