Miguel Bernardino Obituary, – The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has officially confirmed the identity of the motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a collision on Interstate 580 in Livermore last Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Miguel Bernardino, a 27-year-old resident of Merced. It is worth noting that the initial incident report from the California Highway Patrol had incorrectly stated the victim’s age as 30.
The incident occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 13. Bernardino, who was riding alone on a 2019 Suzuki GSX-5, was traveling at a high speed in the westbound direction of I-580, between the Nos. 2 and 3 lanes, near the North Livermore Avenue exit. According to the CHP, he lost control of his motorcycle for reasons that are currently unknown, resulting in him being thrown onto the freeway directly in the path of a truck tractor-trailer combination vehicle.
Tragically, the collision proved fatal for Bernardino. The truck driver promptly stopped at the Isabel Avenue off-ramp and cooperated with the officers during the subsequent interview, as reported by the CHP. The CHP is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. As part of the investigation and to await the arrival of a coroner’s van, the Nos. 1 through 5 lanes were closed for approximately 2-1/2 hours during the morning commute on that day.
