Michelle Jones Obituary, Death; – A pedestrian who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run incident on Saturday has been identified as 56-year-old Michelle Jones from Rockford.
At approximately 6:55 p.m. on Saturday, Jones was walking in the 200 block of N. Springfield Ave. when she was struck by a vehicle, whose driver subsequently fled the scene. Upon arrival, Rockford police and fire personnel found Jones unresponsive in a ditch adjacent to the roadway.
She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:36 p.m. An autopsy conducted by the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office determined that her death resulted from injuries sustained in the collision. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
