Michael Williams Death: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael (Mikey) Shane Williams on July 26, 2024. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, Mikey cherished everything this beautiful coastal city had to offer, from its natural wonders to its vibrant community.
Mikey’s love for nature was evident in his frequent foraging trips in the woods, where he indulged his passion for mycology. When he wasn’t exploring the outdoors, Mikey could often be found at home, contentedly snuggling with his beloved cat, Bobby. His profound affection for animals matched his deep love for his family and friends, especially his closest and dearest friend, Matty.
Travel was another of Mikey’s great joys. He journeyed across the globe with his favorite pilot, Liz, making memories in places like Hawaii and Europe. Each destination left an indelible mark on him, particularly through its culinary delights. Mikey’s passion for cooking was well-known, and he especially loved making paella, a dish that reflected his adventurous spirit and appreciation for different cultures.
Music was not just a hobby for Mikey; it was his lifeline. His love for house music grew over the years, becoming a powerful outlet for his creativity and joy. Nights were often filled with the resonating thumps of bass music vibrating from his apartment, where he found pure happiness behind his turntables, dancing carefree.
Mikey also dedicated himself to his work as a carpenter, a craft he honed with pride and skill. His talent and dedication were recognized when he was featured on the renowned show “This Old House.” Always striving to perfect his craft, Mikey’s work was a testament to his commitment and passion.
As we remember Mikey’s life, we are faced with the sudden and immense financial burden of his funeral expenses. We humbly ask for contributions to help alleviate this burden on his family and loved ones. Your generosity during this difficult time is deeply appreciated.
In the words that resonated with Mikey and his love for house music, “In the beginning, there was Jack, and Jack had a groove. And from this groove came the groove of all grooves. And while one day viciously throwing down on his box, Jack boldly declared, let there be house.”
Rest in peace, dear Mikey. May your new home be filled with the music you loved, until we meet again in “our house.”
