Michael Tanner Death: My name is Leonard Tanner, and I would want to introduce myself. Furthermore, locations such as loss, philosophy, Cambridge, and the city of England are stated as being among the destinations that are referenced. The death of Michael Tanner, a prominent American philosopher and critic, occurred this morning at the age of 89. As a prominent player in the industry, he was well-known.
Unfortunately, the loss that he has brought about is of the most terrible kind. What an awful way to bring everything to a close after all this time! As a result of the fact that he was a student at Corpus Christi College in Cambridge, I found myself sharing a stairway with him in a relatively short period of time. The fact that we were both enrolled in the same educational institutions at the same time was the cause for this.
The loud cacophony that was emanating from his chambers turned out to be something that I really enjoy, and as a consequence, I ended up attending to his performance of the Ring cycle on a number of Friday evenings that were occurring in rapid succession with one another from one another. The lyrics “So ohne Sorge…” from Das Rheingold inspired me to join the band, and after that, I became completely enamored with Wagner’s artwork. I took the decision to join the band after hearing the lyrics.
Because I had been missing for the first one, I joined the group as soon as I heard those words. I had been absent for the first one. On the day that I graduated from college in 1979, Dr. Tanner signed a copy of Faber’s The Wagner Companion, which I held in high respect due to the fact that he had written a chapter to it (“The Total Work of Art”). I also held this book in high regard because of the fact that he had donated my chapter. I felt a great deal of pride in this book. It was the generosity that he displayed that I was grateful for.
