Michael Johnson Jr Obituary, Death; – The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of a mother whose 16-year-old son is implicated in a fatal shooting that took place on Friday in Garyville.
Ashley Fleming, 37, from Garyville, was apprehended on Saturday and faces charges of obstruction of justice and being an accessory after the fact to second-degree murder. Authorities claim that Fleming attempted to eliminate evidence pertinent to the investigation.
These charges are connected to a shooting incident that occurred on Friday evening in the 200 block of Sherman Walker Street. Deputies who arrived at the scene discovered 18-year-old Michael Johnson Jr. from Garyville with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the location.
A 16-year-old male suspect has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The motive behind the shooting has not yet been disclosed by officials. Fleming is currently detained in the parish jail in LaPlace, with a bond set at $30,000. The investigation is still ongoing.
