Michael Janes Obituary, Death; – The individual who lost his life in a collision on River Road on Friday has been named. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, 39-year-old Michael Janes succumbed to his injuries at UofL Hospital after being transported there following the incident.
He passed away shortly before 7 p.m. due to blunt force trauma. The Louisville Metro Police Department reported that they received a call regarding the crash at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of River Road and Frankfort Avenue.
Initial findings from LMPD indicate that a vehicle traveling west on River Road lost control and collided with a commercial vehicle that was attempting to turn left onto Frankfort Avenue. This impact caused the commercial vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision with the vehicle operated by Janes.
Janes was transported to UofL in critical condition, where he later died. The female driver of the eastbound vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Authorities stated that the driver who collided with the commercial vehicle is in critical condition.
The driver of the commercial vehicle did not sustain any injuries. The investigation is being conducted by LMPD’s Traffic Unit, and the coroner has classified the incident as an accident.
