Death Notice – In the quaint town of Fryeburg, Maine, the community mourns the loss of Dr. Michael Harper, a beloved figure known for his dedication to dentistry and a life rich in service. Dr. Harper, fondly known as Mike, was raised in a military family, fostering a love for diverse experiences that led him to live in various places such as Colorado, Idaho, Alaska, Texas, and Germany during his formative years.
Dentistry was not just a profession for Dr. Harper; it was a family legacy passed down by his father and uncle, both dentists. His educational journey took him to Brigham Young University in Idaho for his college studies, and he later graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Harper’s commitment to excellence in dentistry led him to complete a 12-month residency in Advanced General Dentistry, specializing in cosmetic dentistry, root canal therapy, crown and bridge work.
The community of Fryeburg knew Dr. Harper not only as a skilled dentist but also as a man dedicated to service. His seven years of providing dental care to soldiers of the Armed Services, including a deployment in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, earned him a Bronze Star.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Harper cherished moments with his wife, Michiye, and their four children – Naomi, twins Rhett & Bennett, and Nolan. The family found joy in outdoor activities, music, snowboarding/skiing, fishing, and sports.
As Fryeburg mourns the tragic loss resulting from an accident, the memory of Dr. Michael Harper will endure through the countless lives he touched with his outstanding dental care and selfless service.
