Michael Cross Obituary – A 55-year-old man, identified as Michael Cross, lost his life on Sunday morning due to a fireworks-related explosion at a Union Township residence, as confirmed by the Pennsylvania State Police. Cross was pronounced dead at UPMC Hamot at 11:56 a.m. after being airlifted from the scene on Hanlin Cross Road in Union Township following an emergency call at around 10:15 a.m.
The state police in Corry, along with the Union City Fire Company and other local fire departments, responded to the explosion report at a residence north of Union City. It was later determined that the explosion was caused by fireworks. Cross was reportedly in a garage when the explosion happened, and neighbors assisted him in moving away from the area.
The Union City Fire Company mentioned that there was a fire at the residence, which was extinguished by the crews. However, they refrained from providing further details due to the ongoing state police investigation. The incident is currently being investigated by the state police Troop E Fire Marshal Unit, with the involvement of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as per officials.
