Michael Cook Obituary, Blairstown, New Jersey – On the early hours of Sunday, February 4, 2024, Michael Anthony Cook Sr., who was 75 years old, died away in a calm and serene manner at his residence in Blairstown, New Jersey. He was surrounded by his devoted family. Even at a young age, he was able to effortlessly learn the art of putting together Lego models and projects. At the age of twelve, he even constructed his very first piece of furniture!
In addition, he had a deep affection for the beach, particularly York Beach in Maine, where he would spend many hours basking in the warm sun and going on long walks on the sand with his sister, Sarah, his mother, Rene, and his cousin, Jack LaRose. In addition to that, he enjoyed doing rock climbing at the Nubble Lighthouse. As someone who was very picky about the cuisine he ate, he was really excited about the prospect of going to specific eateries in York Beach.
Furthermore, Michael discovered that he had a passion for preparing the dishes that he preferred, particularly a fine tender steak or chicken wings that were grilled. He learned how to operate the charcoal grill, how to cook a steak to perfection, and how to create his grandmother’s spaghetti sauce, which was a comfort food for him. His father Lou was the one who taught him all of these things. It was a source of great pride for him whenever the dishes he prepared turned out perfectly.
Michael will be remembered by those who knew him as a son, brother, grandson, and friend who was occasionally goofy, but who was also kind, loyal, and loving. This coming Thursday, February 8th, visitation will take place at the Newbaker Funeral Home in Blairstown, New Jersey from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which can be found at 95 Pinkneyville Road, Sparta Township, New Jersey 07871, will be the location of the services that will take place on Friday, February 9 starting at 10:00 am.
Mike would advise all of us not to spend money on flowers for him, but rather to consider making a donation to the Humanitarian Aid Fund, which is the humanitarian agency of the church that provides assistance to individuals all over the world regardless of their ethnic or religious affiliation. One hundred percent of every dollar that is donated is used toward providing relief to those who are in need, as well as assisting individuals in achieving self-sufficiency so that they can continue to be self-sufficient long after the humanitarian initiative has over.
Through the website philanthropies.churchofjesuschrist.org/humanitarian-services, contributions can be made using the internet.
