Mekhi Courtney Death – Forest Acres Police reported that a shooting incident at an apartment complex in the city resulted in one fatality and one injury. The incident was reported by Columbia Police around 8 p.m. on Tuesday at The Landings on Covenant Road. The two male victims arrived at MUSC Health on Forest Drive with gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, one of the victims, identified as 22-year-old Mekhi Courtney from Columbia, passed away at the hospital.
Upon arriving at the apartment complex, officers discovered evidence of the shooting in the parking lot. Despite neighbors hearing a disturbance around 7 p.m., no 911 calls were made regarding the incident. It was revealed that neither of the victims resided at the complex or within Forest Acres’ city limits. Courtney was a resident of Columbia, while the other victim hailed from Lexington.
The injured victim is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
