Matthew Terrell Collins Sr,Matthew Terrell Collins Jr Obituary, Death; – A father and son tragically lost their lives due to a falling tree while golfing in Georgia over the weekend. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan reported that the incident occurred at Bull Creek Golf Course in Midland.
The deceased have been identified as 58-year-old Matthew Terrell Collins Sr. and his 29-year-old son, Matthew Terrell Collins Jr., both residents of Harris County. According to the coroner, as a storm approached the golf course, the pair sought shelter under a tree while seated in their golf cart.
The storm resulted in the tree collapsing onto their cart, leading to their deaths. Officials confirmed that both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. The Columbus Police Department is conducting an investigation but indicated that it seems to be a “tragic accident.” Georgia Governor Brian Kemp released a statement regarding the incident:
“Marty, the girls, and I are heartbroken by the tragic loss of two Georgians in Muscogee County today due to the severe weather. We invite everyone to keep their families in our thoughts and prayers, as well as those who are responding to the storm damage.”
