Matthew Bowen Obituary, – A police officer on duty was fatally injured in Vacaville on Thursday morning after being hit by a vehicle, according to the police. The officer has been identified as Matthew Bowen, a member of the Vacaville Police Department.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. while Officer Bowen was engaged in a traffic stop. Footage from the scene depicts a severely damaged motorcycle that belonged to the Vacaville Police Department. As a result of the accident, the intersection was closed and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) shut down one of the Interstate 80 ramps.
The driver responsible for striking Officer Bowen has been apprehended. The CHP will be responsible for conducting the investigation. Officer Bowen had been serving with the Vacaville Police Department since 2023, having previously worked with the Concord Police Department. The Vacaville police department has stated that Officer Bowen is survived by his wife, two sons, parents, and brother.
