He has served with the utmost dedication and dignity, and his absence is keenly regretted by the Department, the City, and the community. He is survived by his wife, two sons, parents, and brother. The City of Vacaville Police Department regrets to inform you of the terrible death of Officer Matthew Bowen, who was slain while on duty this morning. Officer Bowen was starting a traffic stop when he was struck by a car. The driver was brought into custody. Officer Bowen was taken to Kaiser Hospital, but despite the best efforts of emergency personnel, he died from his injuries.
Officer Bowen joined the City of Vacaville on June 13, 2023. He previously worked as a police officer with the City of Concord Police Department.
