The accident occurred in the Buck’s Bay region of Bobs Lake, north of Kingston, when a speedboat collided with their fishing boat. The victims, identified as Kaila Bearman, Juliette Côté, and Riley Orr, were between 21 and 23 years old.
Riley Orr, 23, hailed from South Frontenac and was a Sydenham High School alumnus. An avid student-athlete, Orr played various sports throughout his youth, including minor football with the Sydenham Bulldogs and baseball with the Kingston Thunder. He worked at Frontenac Plumbing Service since April 2018, where his colleagues remembered him as an outstanding young man with immense potential. Friends shared touching tributes on social media, reminiscing about their fond memories with him.
Kaila Bearman and Juliette Côté were also graduates of the Limestone School District. Bearman, a Regiopolis-Notre Dame High School graduate, was known for her participation in volleyball and soccer. Her friends described her as a close friend and a beautiful soul, sharing heartfelt messages and photos.
Juliette Côté graduated from LaSalle Secondary School, where she played field hockey and soccer. At the time of her death, she was working at her family’s interior design company, Côté Co., alongside her mother, Alison. Friends remembered Côté as a vibrant and cherished individual, expressing their sorrow and celebrating her life with poignant tributes.
