Matel Ford Obituary,  – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the burglary suspect who was killed by a homeowner in Oakland last week as Matel Ford, a 40-year-old man with a history of theft-related arrests. Ford was fatally shot during a burglary at 98th Avenue and Burr Street on June 10, when he and two others trespassed onto the homeowner’s property. The homeowner, a 77-year-old individual, opened fire in self-defense as one of the suspects brandished a crowbar. Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. The homeowner was initially taken into custody on suspicion of murder but was later released without charges. His name has not been disclosed.
