Marty Adler was a beloved figure in the Windsor-Essex region, where he made significant contributions through various roles over the decades. His career began with the CBC as a sportscaster, where his dynamic and engaging style quickly made him a fixture in the homes of many viewers.
Marty’s talent for bringing sports stories to life was unmatched, and his enthusiasm for both professional and amateur sports was evident in every broadcast. His ability to highlight high school and local amateur teams, giving them a platform and a moment in the spotlight, was particularly cherished. In retirement, Marty found a new chapter in Amherstburg, a town he fell in love with for its charming small-town atmosphere. Determined to make a lasting impact on his new community, Marty embarked on a new venture: establishing CKBG – “The Burg,” a radio station dedicated to serving the Amherstburg area. Despite numerous challenges and obstacles, Marty’s vision came to fruition on July 3rd, 2023, when CKBG began broadcasting.
The station quickly became a beloved part of the community, and its success was a testament to Marty’s unwavering dedication and hard work. Within a year, CKBG earned the platinum designation for radio from Community Votes – Windsor and Marty was recognized as one of the top three nominees for Entrepreneur of the Year by the Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce.
Marty’s final broadcast was a memorable one, as he signed off the air on July 13th, 2024, during a do-wop dance party as DJ Marty Adler. This event symbolized a full circle in his career, from his early days in sportscasting to his final role as a beloved radio personality. It was a fitting tribute to a life dedicated to bringing joy and entertainment to others.
