Marsha Chaffins Obituary, Death – Marsha Gayle Chaffins, 63, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, passed away on March 30, 2024. Her birthplace was Huntington, West Virginia on March 15, 1961. Her grandparents were Angel Faith Chaffins and the late Rev. Bryan Chaffins. Donald and Barbara Taylor, her parents, both departed from this life before her. Marsha’s life demonstrated the enduring influence of faith, family, and love.
Marsha is survived by her cherished children: Steffiny Ray (Chuck Ray), Bryan Chaffins Jr. (Misty Chaffins), Jill Hineman (Rev. Jared Hineman), and Rev. Gary Chaffins (April Chaffins). Her descendants to this day include Austin Ray, Brayden Chaffins, Ethan Hineman, Adryan Chaffins, Calee Chaffins, Cameryn Chaffins, Carly Ray, Carson Chaffins, Evan Hineman, and Ben Taylor. She considered her grandchildren to be her own.
Prior to her death were her sisters Diana Taylor, Karen Adams (Charlie Adams), and Judy Pennington (the late David Pennington). Her siblings Rod Taylor (Deanna Taylor), David Taylor (the late Pam Taylor), Patti Trotter (the late Ernie Trotter), and Donald Taylor (Beverly Taylor) also survive her. Marsha loved and cared for many nieces, nephews, and other family members, treating them all as though they were her own.
The steadfast companionship of Marsha’s close friend Kellie Proffitt Freeman, which she cherished till the end, also shone brightly in her life. Her devotion to Christ guided her in her responsibilities as a loving friend, grandmother, and mother. Her unwavering religious beliefs provided her with guidance, comfort, and support and became the cornerstone of her existence. Marsha became a beacon of warmth and unwavering love because of her commitment to her family and her faith, making a lasting impression on everyone she came into contact with.
To celebrate Marsha’s life and faith, a meeting will be held at The Grace Community Church at Bigelow, 415 Washington Street, Portsmouth, Ohio. Rev. Gary Chaffins, Marsha’s son, will preside over the ceremony, which is open to family and friends as a way to honor her journey and her homecoming home to live with the Lord. There will be a visitation on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Afternoon service in honor of the Life Celebration is scheduled for 12:00. Marsha’s departure from this life leaves many feeling empty-handed, yet her love, teachings, and spirit endure and uplift those who knew her. We’re happy that she’s found peace in the Lord’s presence and that she’s joined with loved ones who have passed on in Heaven, a place where happiness and love never end.
