MARLINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Town of Marlinton Water Department will begin routine fire hydrant testing throughout the community starting May 17 and continuing through July 17, 2025.

The testing is part of regular maintenance to ensure hydrants are working properly and to help maintain the safety and reliability of the town’s water system.

During the testing period, residents may notice temporary discoloration or cloudiness in their tap water.

Officials say this is a normal and harmless result of sediment being stirred up in the water lines.

Customers are advised to run their cold water taps for a few minutes if discoloration occurs, and to avoid using hot water until the water runs clear to prevent sediment from entering water heaters.

Anyone with questions or concerns is encouraged to contact the Marlinton Water Plant at 304-799-7442.
