Markies Conway Obituary, Death;- Yella Beezy, widely recognized for his hit trap song “That’s On Me,” has been arrested in connection with the 2020 shooting death of fellow rapper MO3.
The 33-year-old artist, whose real name is Markies Conway, was taken into custody by law enforcement and subsequently booked at the Dallas County Jail on Thursday afternoon following the issuance of an arrest warrant, as reported by USA TODAY based on jail and court documents. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department confirmed on Friday that the rapper is currently held on a $2 million bail.
This arrest occurred just two days after a grand jury charged Beezy with felony murder in relation to the death of MO3, who was fatally shot during a midday incident on a Dallas highway. USA TODAY has reached out to Beezy’s representative for a statement. The grand jury indicted Beezy on Tuesday for “capital murder while remuneration,” alleging that the Texas-born rapper “intentionally and knowingly” participated in MO3’s death by hiring Kewon White to carry out the killing for financial compensation, as detailed in the indictment.
The indictment states, “Pursuant to said agreement, Kewon White did then and there intentionally and knowingly cause the death of (Noble) by shooting (him) with (a) firearm.” White was reportedly arrested a month after MO3’s death and is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence for firearm-related charges stemming from the shooting, according to local Dallas news outlets KDFW and WFAA.
Following MO3’s death on November 11, 2020, police informed USA TODAY that the shooting suspect, described as an adult Black male, exited his parked dark sedan armed with a firearm and approached MO3, who had exited his own vehicle and began fleeing southbound on the highway.
The suspect, now identified as White, pursued MO3, firing multiple shots and hitting him. The rapper was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, as indicated in a police report obtained by USA TODAY at that time. MO3 was 28 years old. Additionally, White also injured an innocent bystander, an adult male, who was seated in a separate vehicle.
