Marjorie McGennis Obituary, Death – The people of Mt Vernon, Indiana, are grieving the death of Marjorie “Beep” Loyce (Erwin) McGennis, who was 83 years old when she died away on October 2, 2024. Beep was a well-liked person who was well-known for her kind disposition, commitment to her family, and her involvement in the neighborhood. Beep was born in Posey County, Indiana, on January 22, 1941. Her parents were Elisha and Elsie Erwin. She was raised in a close-knit farming family and carried on the customs of her farm wifehood her entire life.
She worked as a custodian for the Metropolitan School District of Mt. Vernon in addition to her work on the farm, where she was well-known and loved by the staff and students. In addition, Beep was involved in the Extension Homemakers Club, serving on the Extension Board and giving back to the community as a member of the 4-H Council. She spent many years influencing the lives of young people as the Victory Bees’ leader. Her devotion to her community and faith was further demonstrated by her work with the Eastern Star and First Christian Church.
Beep was most renowned for her adoration of her family. Above all, she loved being a loving grandmother, and she took tremendous satisfaction in that role. Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and devotion. Allen “Bump” McGennis, Beep’s husband, and a number of close relatives, including her twin sister Joyce “Josh” Davis, predeceased her. Her surviving family and the innumerable people she impacted in Mount Vernon are greatly saddened by her passing.
