Marion Joyner Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the individual who was fatally shot during a police incident earlier this week in northern Phoenix.
Marion Joyner, aged 62, lost his life following police intervention in response to reports of an armed man inside a restaurant located near the intersection of Interstate 17 and Thunderbird Road on Wednesday.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officials found Joyner and determined that numerous employees and patrons had successfully evacuated the premises. As officers established a perimeter, Joyner commenced firing his weapon. Footage from the scene reveals bullet holes that penetrated the front window of a Whataburger.
The exchange of gunfire continued for several minutes, culminating in a shootout between Joyner and the police. Joyner was pronounced dead at the scene, with no other injuries reported. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
