Marianne Kilonzi Obituary, Death; – A woman who was fatally injured in a residence on Friday, January 17, has been identified by law enforcement. Marianne Kilonzi, aged 43, was discovered deceased by officers at a property on Argyll Road, Woolwich, around 5:30 PM after they responded to concerns regarding an individual’s welfare.
A post-mortem examination conducted on Saturday, January 18, determined that the cause of death was blunt force trauma and a head injury.
“I understand that this is a troubling time for the community, and I wish to assure the public that, although we are in the preliminary phases of this investigation, we believe the suspect was acquainted with Marianne, and there is no broader threat to public safety.
“This investigation is progressing rapidly, and I encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward.”
This homicide marks the latest incident in a troubling trend of violent crimes in Woolwich. On Tuesday, January 7, Kelyan Bokassa was fatally stabbed on a bus in Woolwich. Additionally, a Year 12 student was critically injured following a stabbing at Shooters Hill Sixth Form, also in Woolwich, on Monday, January 6.
Ms. Kilonzi’s family has been notified. No arrests have been made thus far. The police have initiated a swift murder investigation into Ms. Kilonzi’s death.
Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren, from Specialist Crime South, who is overseeing the investigation, stated: “This is a heartbreaking crime, and our thoughts are with Marianne’s family and colleagues during this profoundly difficult time. We are in communication with her family, who are receiving support from specialized personnel.”
