Maria K. Eichas Death – A fatal crash occurred in Parma, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old Spencerport High School graduate named Maria K. Eichas. The incident took place early Sunday morning when Eichas was driving westbound on Burritt Road and was rear-ended by another car driven by Alexander T. Hackett, a 33-year-old resident of Parma. Deputy Brendan Hurley of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Eichas’ death at the scene.
Deputy Hurley expressed condolences to Eichas’ family and friends during this challenging time. Hackett has been charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, a felony, and was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash. He was subsequently arraigned in Parma Town Court and is currently held at the Monroe County Jail on $40,000 cash bail.
Lanette Cypher, the Communications Director of Spencerport Central School District, stated that due to privacy concerns, she could not provide further details about the deceased young woman. However, grief counselors are available at the school to support students and staff. According to records from the Democrat and Chronicle, Eichas was an active basketball player at Spencerport High School.
One of the passengers in the SUV, an 18-year-old girl, was also injured in the crash but is expected to recover. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation, and there may be additional charges in the future.
