Maria Jimenez Rosas Obituary – A suspected DUI driver allegedly caused a head-on collision on Guerneville Road, resulting in the death of Maria Jimenez Rosas, a 56-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. The collision occurred at 5:39 a.m. on Monday.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene and determined that a BMW X6 crossover traveling eastbound on Guerneville Road crossed over the double-yellow lines into the opposing lane, colliding head-on with a Toyota Rav4 SUV. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, and Rosas, who was trapped inside the Rav4, suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the BMW was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of major, non-life-threatening injuries.
According to CHP Spokesperson David deRutte, the BMW driver was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Once released from the hospital, the driver will be booked at Sonoma County jail on charges of felony DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and drug possession.
