Marcus Martinez Obituary, Death Cause – The life of Marcus Martinez has been taken. Martinez was also contacted by the Majority Leader of the United States Senate, Charles E. Schumer, who referred to Martinez as “a true hero” and recalled a conversation that took place in February 2016 during which Martinez briefed Schumer of the situation in Hoosick Falls.
In remarks that were read on Schumer’s behalf at the ceremony, Schumer was quoted as saying, “I promised him that I would do all that I could to get the (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) to designate the area a Superfund site.
Which would force the responsible companies to fix the problem, and to urge the agency to establish a more safe and stringent drinking water standard for (perfluorinated chemicals).” These were Schumer’s exact words, although they were read in the third person.
Martinez, now 51 years old, graduated from Hoosick Falls High School in 1990 and went on to assume leadership of the medical practice that his father, Phillip, had operated from 1956 to 1999.
Martinez’s father had been in practice from 1956 until 1999. Martinez’s treatment of 5,000 patients provided first-hand insight into the rates of strange diseases that had disturbed both him and his father. Martinez was able to gain this information as a direct result of his work.
Dr. Marcus Martinez was in attendance at a community meeting in Hoosick Falls, New York, in December 2015 to discuss the issue of water contamination. Martinez, who had been an outspoken advocate about the health issues the toxic contamination of the village’s water supply, passed away on Thursday after a nine-year fight with a rare form of cancer.
