Marc James Obituary – Saturday, February 24, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana was the day that Marc L. James, 63 years old, passed away after a brief battle with illness. Marc James was the eldest of the three children that Harlan and Cynthia James had. He was born on October 18, 1956 in Kankakee, Illinois. As a result of his father’s professional employment with the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, Marc spent his childhood and early adult years living in a number of different places in the state of Illinois.
When he was younger, he participated in scouting and eventually became an Eagle Scout, which is the greatest achievement or rank that can be achieved via the Boy Scouts of America. He completed his secondary education at Eastern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University. He graduated from Lincoln-Way High School in New Lenox, Illinois, in 1974. He then went on to complete his secondary education at Southern Illinois University.
On the 31st of October in 1987, Marc Williams wed the woman who would become the love of his life, Karen Williams. When Marc started working for McElroy Metal in the corporate office in 1994, the couple relocated to Bossier City, Louisiana, where he continued his employment. During 19 of those 26 years, he was an essential member of the Purchasing Group and played an important role. During the time that he spent working at McElroy, he was actively involved in practically all of the company’s departments and also served as a liaison with external suppliers.
Further, Marc went on to earn his Master of Business Administration degree from Louisiana State University Shreveport while still maintaining his full-time employer. Bass fishing was a hobby that Marc and his wife, Karen, enjoyed doing together, particularly on Lake Sam Rayburn in Texas. He had a wicked sense of humor and a gentle nature, and the only people who could test his sense of humor were those who had horrible driving skills, much to the pleasure of his wife. He was a major supporter of Texas State University and the Green Bay Packers. Marc, who was one of the kindest individuals you could ever want to meet, will be greatly missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing and working with him. He was a wonderful person.
Cheri Ann Pierce, Marc’s sister, and his parents both passed away before him. Marc follows in their footsteps. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen James, who resides in Bossier City; his brother, David James, who resides in Atlanta, Georgia; his sister-in-law, Christine Cochran and her husband Steve, who reside in Sierra Vista, Arizona; and his brothers-in-law, Steven Williams of Chicago, Illinois and Kevin Pierce of Mattoon, Illinois and their respective wives. Marc is also survived by his nephews, Benjamin James of Atlanta, Blake Pierce, Cole Pierce, and Derek Pierce, as well as his great-nephew, Lincoln Pierce, all of Mattoon, Illinois; a large number of wonderful friends and co-workers; and, last but not least, his cherished dogs, Tigger, Kerrie Anne, and Cody.
