CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Several school districts are moving classes online or canceling altogether due to winter weather bringing snow and ice on Friday, Jan 10.
Alexander County Schools will be remote on Friday.
Cabarrus County Schools will be closed on Friday and KIDS:PLUS will not operate. There is no need for a makeup day.
All athletic, extra-curricular and community events are also canceled from Friday through Sunday.
Catawba County Schools will be closed Friday with an optional teacher workday. QUEST will also be closed.
The district-wide spelling bee will be postponed until Friday, Feb. 7. Report cards will be given next week. A decision will be made Sunday afternoon if Monday classes will be impacted.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed. Students will be assigned work to do over the weekend and will not have to log in for remote learning.
After-school programs are canceled. Athletic events set for Friday will be held on Thursday and events set for Saturday, Jan. 11, will be held on Monday, Jan. 13.
Chester County Schools will move to online learning on Friday. All after-school activities and athletic events are canceled Friday through Sunday.
Clover Schools will be closed. Students will be assigned work to do over the weekend and will not have live online classes. Students can complete their work on Canvas. Younger students will instead fill out paper packets.
All work is due by Friday, Jan. 17. Students must complete their work to be counted present for Friday’s school day. Staff will be available from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday should any students need support.
All athletic events on Friday and Saturday have been canceled. New dates for these events will be announced shortly.

Fort Mill Schools will use eLearning on Friday, and all buildings will be closed. After-school activities and athletic events are canceled.
Lancaster County Schools will have an eLearning day on Friday. All school buildings will be closed. All events and activities on Friday and Saturday are canceled.
Rock Hill Schools will be on eLearning on Friday. All extracurricular activities are canceled on Friday and Saturday.
