Mahki Brown Shooting; 16 Years Old Brooklyn Student, Mahki Brown Fatally Shot By Bike-Riding Gunman In Soho
Mahki Brown, 16, was killed in a senseless daylight shooting outside a five-star Soho hotel by a gunman on a Citi Bike. It happened on Spring Street across from the Dominick Hotel. The police have confirmed that Brown was shot in the head and leg just before 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Living in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Brown was taken right away to Bellevue Hospital, where authorities said he passed away from his wounds.
Sources indicate that the shooting may have started as a result of an argument between two groups of girls earlier that day, while the reason for the shooting is still unknown. No one has been taken into custody in relation to the incident as of yet.
The horrific aftermath of the shooting was remembered by witnesses, who described it “sickening” and “movie-like.” A nearby security guard named Justo Cruz expressed surprise to see Brown lying hurt, highlighting the necessity of being vigilant even in neighborhoods that might seem safe, like Soho.
A parking attendant in the vicinity related his experience of running for cover as he heard gunfire, capturing the pandemonium and terror that followed the sad incident in its immediate aftermath.
Sources claim that there may be connections between the shooting and Brown’s school, Broome Street Academy Charter High School, which is located close to Chelsea Career and Technical Education High School.
