Lyndsey Vicknair Obituary – Round Rock authorities have officially disclosed the identities of the two individuals who lost their lives in the shooting that took place at Old Settlers Park on Saturday evening. The victims have been identified as Lyndsey Vicknair, a 33-year-old resident of Manor, and Ara Duke, a 54-year-old resident of Pflugerville.
The incident occurred during a Juneteenth celebration at the park, around 10:50 p.m., following a confrontation between two groups in attendance, as stated by the Round Rock police. Regrettably, 14 other individuals were also injured during the incident. It is important to note that neither Vicknair nor Duke were involved in the initial altercation, according to the Round Rock Police Department (RRPD).
Round Rock PD Chief Allen Banks expressed his condolences and deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and the injuries sustained by numerous others due to this senseless act of violence. Chief Banks emphasized the commitment of the police department to ensure the safety and well-being of the community, vowing to tirelessly pursue justice for those responsible. IDEA Public Schools has confirmed that Ara Duke was an employee of the school. The district released a statement regarding her tragic passing on Monday morning, expressing their grief and acknowledging her as a valued member of their team. The school will provide counseling services on campus to support students who may require emotional assistance. The statement extended thoughts and sympathies to Duke’s family and loved ones as they navigate through this difficult period.
Authorities have provided a description of a person of interest in connection with the shooting. The individual is described as a black man, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a thin build, aged between 19-20 years old. He was last seen wearing a white hoodie.
