The incident occurred at the west junction of Highways 34 and 81 around 10 a.m., as reported by the York County Sheriff’s Office. Lucille Kennedy, 65, was traveling east on Highway 34 when she collided with a semitrailer on Highway 81 at the intersection. Kennedy was declared dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office has reported four fatal accidents on Highway 34 in York County in a little over a month. Sheriff Paul Vrbka has contacted State Sen. Jana Hughes, who represents York County, to inquire about the possibility of the state providing safety measures or equipment for the Highway 34/81 intersection. He intends to meet with Hughes soon to discuss potential solutions. Vrbka stated in a press release, “We can’t keep having accidents like this.”
