Luciano Matute Obituary – On Friday, the Miami police made an announcement regarding the arrest of a burglar who had fatally shot a 62-year-old man in front of his granddaughter the previous day. The police revealed that the burglar was actually a relative of the victim. The incident took place at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Thursday in the Little Havana neighborhood, specifically in the 700 block of Southwest Fifth Street.
The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Carlos Manuel Rosales, resided nearby and had concealed his identity during the burglary, which occurred while the victim’s 11-year-old granddaughter was alone in the apartment. Rosales is the step-uncle of the girl, as he is married to the sister of her mother. After the girl contacted her mother, who then informed the victim, Luciano Matute, he hurried to the scene to confront the suspect. Tragically, Rosales shot and killed Matute before fleeing the scene in a white Toyota Tundra.
The police were able to track down the truck using its license plate, locating it on Southwest Seventh Avenue and Fourth Street later that same day, around 3:45 p.m. Rosales was subsequently pulled over and apprehended in the 1100 block of Southwest Seventh Street less than 10 minutes later. Further investigation by the authorities revealed that Rosales had been sexually abusing a girl since she was 8 years old. Additionally, the victim informed the police that she had witnessed Rosales molesting a 9-year-old girl.
To protect the identities of the victims, Local 10 News has chosen not to disclose the relationship between Rosales and the victims. Rosales, who is a citizen of Honduras, is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of second-degree murder, lewd and lascivious molestation on a child, and lewd and lascivious exhibition on a child, as stated in the jail records. The bond for his release is yet to be determined.
