(PINPOINT WEATHER) — It was a chilly day across the Carolinas behind the cold front that moved through Sunday.
The big focus this week will be potential wintry weather we are tracking for Wednesday into Thursday. The latest trends are showing a weakening storm system for the area with minor amounts of snow and ice for the Carolinas along with some cold temperatures. This weekend our temperatures should moderate back into the low 50s.

As for tonight and Tuesday, mostly clear skies and chilly temperatures are expected this evening with lows likely dipping down in the upper 20s. Tuesday will bring a few more clouds with more chilly temperatures with highs in the low 50s.
Wednesday is when we are expecting big changes to the region as a winter storm will move in from the west with snow, sleet, and freezing rain starting during the later morning hours and continuing throughout the rest of the day. Snow, sleet, and freezing rain are expected up to a couple of inches of wintry mix possible in Charlotte. More snow is expected farther to our north and west and more icing is expected across the Upstate of South Carolina.

The worst of the weather will be during the middle of the day before the wintry mess moves out Wednesday evening. Overall, roughly one to two inches of snow and sleet is possible with more snow farther northwest from Charlotte and less southeast.
The rest of the week looks dry and chilly with temperatures slowly rebounding as we go towards the weekend going from highs in the upper 30s Thursday to the low 50s on Sunday. In the meantime, get ready for a cold night ahead for the Carolinas tonight!
Have a great night!
